What time does school start and end?
School starts at 7:55 AM. Please do not drop off students until 7:35 AM. There is no supervision before 7:35 AM.
School ends at 2:25 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 1:10 PM on Wednesday,

How does my student opt in and pay for hot lunch?
Lunch is free at Kimball for all students. Please have your student inform their teacher each morning if they would like to opt in for hot lunch.

What school supplies will my student need to bring on their first day?
Your student will need to bring their own backpack (large enough to hold an 8 1/2 x 11 notebook), a lunchbox (if opting out of the provided free hot lunch), and a water bottle.
Kimball provides all school supplies to attending students regardless of their ability to pay. These supplies are funded by the PTSA. If you would like to make a donation to keep our classrooms stocked with paper, pencils, pens, composition books, and other supplies, please donate here. -
How do I notify the school of my child’s late start, early dismissal, or excused absence?
Please contact their teacher directly via the Talking Points app, and call the main office at (206) 252-7280.

Do I need to re-enroll my Kimball student every year?
No, once a student has been enrolled in Kimball, they will automatically be enrolled in the next grade for the following school year.

How do I get involved with my child’s classroom or Kimball events?
Our staff, teachers, and PTSA are always looking for volunteers. See all of the ways to get involved here.

How do I access my child’s progress reports and test scores?
Performance reports, progress reports, and assessments are available via the source.
2025-26 School Year Dates
All schools have a 75-minute early release on Wednesdays, except the first and last day of school. The last day of school will have a 60-minute early release.
September 3 First day of school for 1st-12th grade students. Sept. 3 is not an early release Wednesday. Early release will occur every Wednesday except for the first week of school.
September 8 First day of school for preschool and kindergarten students
October 10 State In-service Day (no school for students)
November 11 Veterans Day Observed (no school)
November 24-26 Family-Teacher conference days in elementary and K-8 schools. (no school for elementary and K-8 schools, varies by school).
Most middle schools are open (see school website for more information).
November 27-28 Thanksgiving and Native American Heritage Day (no school)
December 19 1-hour early dismissal
December 22-January 2, 2026 Winter break (no school)
January 19 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (no school)
February 16-20 Mid-winter break, including Presidents’ Day (no school)
April 13-17 Spring break (no school)
May 25 Memorial Day (no school)
June 17 Last day of school (school will be dismissed 60 minutes early)
June 19 Juneteenth (staff holiday, no school when school is in session)
Potential emergency closure makeup days are June 18, 22, 23.
